Man United toys with Newcastle

2010-08-16 23:11

London - Dimitar Berbatov scored a clinical first goal for Manchester United as they sauntered to a 3-0 win in their Premier League opener against promoted Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Monday.

Responding to champions Chelsea's 6-0 drubbing of West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, Alex Ferguson's side were a class above Newcastle who faded away after a bright start.

Paul Scholes was chief tormentor, the midfielder setting up Berbatov after 33 minutes and then picking out substitute Ryan Giggs for United's third deep into the second half.

Darren Fletcher's close-range poke home had effectively ended the match as a contest shortly before halftime and United, runners-up to Chelsea last season, spent the second period toying with their overawed opponents.

  • Lamps_8 - 2010-08-17 10:19

Well played United.Nice game of Monday night football.Berbatov could have scored way more,he had lots of opportunities.Rooney was nowhere. The magpies aren't a great team like they once used to be so not much of a surprise to see United put 3 on them.

Welcome back LADIES...Relax, It's just the first game. My prediction for this season. . .Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U, Everton

  • Didier Drogba - 2010-08-17 14:53

Where is my friend Rooney?? He is falling behind again. Big name signing and never ever won the Golden boot. My buddy frank Lampard has scored more goals than him for England. But Frank is classthough. Maybe an unfair comparison.

  • My Word - 2010-08-17 15:44

@Didier Drogba: Hahahahaha! You are such a chop!! You walked straight into this one you ignorant MORON. Wayne Rooney has scored more goals for England than Lampard and has played fewer games than Lampard as well! Suppose it is because Rooney is a striker but you want to compare so there is your comparison. WE HAVE OUR MOEMISH OF THE WEEK in the name of the fake "Didier Drogba" Do society a favour and go slit your wrists you retard! You seem to be jumping on Chelseas bandwagon! Enjoy the ride d!ick breath!

  • A(N)ON - 2010-08-18 16:42

@ Soccerfan there you go again making predictions from your heart. You know deep down that the best Arsenal can hope for this season will be a CL spot...

  • Lamps_8@My word - 2010-08-19 09:02

I Agree with you there. This Didier has his facts a bit twisted, but there's truth behind the fact that Drogba was still a more in form player than Rooney towards the end of last season, the world cup and even now after the opening game. You my friend are the one jumping on the bandwagon,You're a United supporter so thats obvious.I hope your mom doesn't visit this site. She'd give you such a hiding

  • My Word - 2010-08-19 09:33

@Lamps_8: You are an even bigger RETARD than the so called "Didier Drogba" Seems all you Chelsea fans cannot read further than your noses! Maybe it is because it is so far up amongst your supporters ar$ses!!! Nowhere in my comment have i compared Rooney to Drogba! Yes you right, Drogba is in form at the moment and deserved his Golden Boot last season! I do not dispute that. Where have i disputed that in my comment? You Lampard wanabee need to get your nose out of your boyfriend's ar$e and read properly! You the one that needs a hiding for pumping your mouth. Peace out you Bandwagon Jumping Biatch!

  • AJ - 2010-08-19 09:58

@Lamps_8: My man, you seem to be showing your true colours mate! You claimed to be a unbiased when commenting but from i have seen towards the end of last season and now, you seem to be more of an arrogant pr!ck than anything else! You do need to get some glasses before replying to comments with a distorted view! Shame on you fool!

  • Lamps_8 - 2010-08-19 12:14

Hahahaha. There is no end to the stupidity of some, not all United supporters.F**kin lovin the season so far

  • My Word - 2010-08-19 12:50

@Lamps_8: That's how some, not all Utd supporters, feel about chops like you and that plank "Didier Drogba"

  • Nash the Gunner - 2010-08-19 13:23

I hear Teko "The Bafana Ace" Modise is going to Man Utd as a replacement for Scholes since they could not get the service of Ribery or Sneijder

  • Lamps_8 - 2010-08-19 13:56

You are all such typical United supporters,All high & mighty but when you lose........Silence........I think Chelsea Winning last season has made you all even more sour than Usual.Makes it better for me,so I can laugh at stupid comments from the general public (United supporters) @My word-Have a milkshake little man,I'm still laughing

  • My Word - 2010-08-19 15:39

@Lamps_8: Your team sucks A$$ and so do you! New season, new campaign! Forget about your lucky run towards last season. By the way, your mother's p0es!!!!!!
