Man City swoop for Sneijder

Cape Town - Manchester City have reportedly pipped arch-rivals Manchester United to the signature of Inter Milan’s star midfielder Wesley Sneijder.

The Gazzetta dello Sport in Italy reports that Inter have sold Wesley Sneijder to Manchester City for €36m, with the Dutchman’s last appearance for the Italian giants set to be in Super Cup on Saturday.

Sneijder, who had been heavily linked to Old Trafford throughout the off season will reportedly sign a contract worth €6 million per season.

Manchester United and Manchester City clash in the traditional season-opener, the Community Shield, at Wembley on Sunday.
