Macheda is Man U hero again

2009-04-11 18:07

London - Federico Macheda came off the bench to save Manchester United for the second week running on Saturday when the 17-year-old Italian got the decider in a 2-1 win at Sunderland with his first touch seconds after coming on.

Macheda, whose brilliant debut goal in stoppage time secured a 3-2 win over Aston Villa, made another enormous contribution to the Premier League title race when he diverted a 76th-minute Michael Carrick shot into the net after Kenwyne Jones had cancelled out Paul Scholes's opener.

Liverpool had earlier piled on the pressure with a 4-0 home win over Blackburn Rovers, helped by two goals by Fernando Torres and Chelsea also led 4-0 at home to Bolton Wanderers after an hour but ended up hanging on for a 4-3 win.

United, who have a game in hand on the chasing pack, remain top on 71 points with Liverpool second on 70. Chelsea are third on 67 with Arsenal fourth on 61 after they came from behind to win 4-1 at Wigan Athletic.

1-3 at Anfield, Yeah!Yeah!Yeah! not to forget the goaline clearance and missed chances by Drogba, could have easily been half a dozen chelsea buns, that should bring the scouses back down to earth. what happened to united is history, they are still on top and are determined to stay there.

Well done to Macheda - just a question. 'Pool's David N'gog is 19. In his last 2 games he has scored & set up another. Why does he not get mentioned by the media ? Give credit where it is due ...

At this moment i would rather be in the united camp than liverpool one. utd 1 point up with a game in hand.utd 2-2 away to porto, pool 3-1 down away at the Bridge.

Seems that's all Liverpool fans can do these days hey, Refer to the 4 -1 scoreline at Old Trafford. Must be disappointing for you lot not to get away from us in the League Standings. Having won all those matches with big score lines still to find United top with a game in hand must be heartbreaking. Remember we're in a slump and hit by injuries and still getting the results. You're scared of United's form returning soon and you haven't fully capitalised on our poor run. I suggest you stick to your history but only the Champions League part, because after this season you have to take down that 18 League title flag, coz United will be equal. UNITED! UNITED!! UNITED!!!

Hey PIP and other non-United supporters, the Red Devils have been so dominant in English Football over the past 19 years that all you guys can do is take some solace in the odd defeat against us. One swallow in July does not signal the onset of summer neither does one defeat against us make you all the best team in England/Europe. Winning trophies does that and Man U no matter how badly they are playing at the moment seems to be churning out the results that are keeping LFC and CFC at bay. Glory Glory Man United - lets destroy the Portas in their backyard.

Hey PIP, UNITED have won the league many times and in their wins have beaten liverpool many times.Pool may have beaten United twice now but can still end up without the league title - so the wins will account for nothing, zero, f**kol. Wake up man! this will be another flush in the pan run for Liverpool!

Look guys let's sit and think, what counts at the end of the season is it a win against united.I for one don't think so as united are still top of the log regardless of a liverpool win/united loss,to all liver fans just watch hows it's done tonight.Die hard united fan spargo, the red devils!!!!!

  • Sparks - 2009-04-16 10:22

Aha!!!.United make history again as the 1st english team to win at porto, now where's all the liver fans.Look guys uniited play as a team and fergie has been around for years,a team of porto's calliber couldn't elliminate him from his defence if the title.Who knows may we'll do the unbelivable and take 4 trophies this seaaon a feat the no other has achieved in england.Space is being created in the carbinet for 3 more trophies as 1 is already at carbin.

  • Sparks - 2009-04-16 10:33

If the was one way of eliminating porto had to come from a home boy ronaldo and had to be a special goal,as seen last night. There's nothing more painful than a 1 - 0 scoreline at home turf.I wonder what the pool fans have to say for themselves as they were in support of porto,so we killed 2 birds with one stone. I still say that fergie know which players to play and in which games as that was the best united team that took onto the field against porto last night, let's not forget that ferdinand was not playing at old trafford so his experience proved problematic for the porto strike force.

Hi football lovers, here is a question my dear grandmother asked me this morning, she said " Whats' the difference between ManU, Chelsea, Arsenal & Liverpool". I told her that im not to sure and she replied, the 1st teams are still in the Champions League, I laughed so hard almost chocked on my coco pops. Then she asked me the difference between ManU & Liverpool specific, I asked her what? She said we have silverware for this season in our cupboard and Liverpool has dust, just dust in theirs. Im at the hospital right now, cause I laughed so hard that I actually did chock on my coco pops.
