Long nets winner for West Brom

West Bromwich - Shane Long returned from injury to score the winning goal in West Bromwich Albion's 2-1 victory over Bolton in the English Premier League on Saturday.

The Ireland striker, back after nearly a month out with a knee injury, headed home Nicky Shorey's cross in the 56th minute to earn West Brom a first win in three matches, lifting the Midlands team back into mid-table.

Winger Jerome Thomas put the hosts in front in the 16th minute but gave away the penalty that Ivan Klasnic converted to equalize five minutes later.

Bolton's ninth defeat in 12 matches leaves Owen Coyle's struggling side in the relegation zone.
