Liverpool to hijack United's Firmino deal?

Cape Town - Manchester United face losing out on the signature of Brazilian star Roberto Firmino.

The Independent report that Liverpool are in talks with the Hoffenheim playmaker over a summer move.

The news comes after the player's agent confirmed his client would play in the Premier League next season but failed to identify the Copa America star's next club.

Liverpool are now confident of landing the 23-year-old star on a five-year contract.

O Globo report that Liverpool have reached an agreement with Hoffenheim which will see Firmino move to Anfield for a fee in the region of €25 million.

Earlier in the month, several sources indicated that Firmino would complete a move to Manchester United but it appears that neither of the English giants have inked a deal for the Brazilian.

Fimino has scored 49 goals in 153 games for Hoffenheim.

Any deal for Firmino is unlikely to be confirmed until Brazil complete their Copa America duties.
