Liverpool agrees deal for Can

Cape Town - Brendan Rodgers seem to come running out of the transfer window blocks as the manager is on the verge of completing his second signing of the summer.

Liverpool have confirmed a deal in principle with Bayer Leverkusen to sign midfielder Emre Can.

A German youth international, the 20-year-old former Bayern Munich player had a big part in Leverkusen's fourth-place finish last season in the Bundesliga, scoring three goals in 29 league appearances.

The Anfield club has met his contract clause which is 10 million pounds.

Liverpool says the deal is subject to documentation being completed but the Reds are hopeful to make Can their second significant signing of the summer following England striker Rickie Lambert's arrival at Anfield from Southampton.

Other Liverpool targets include midfielder Adam Lallana from Southampton and left-back Alberto Moreno from Spanish side Sevilla.
