Laporta denies Mourinho claims

Cape Town - Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is not former Barcelona president Joan Laporta main priority in the lead up to Barcelona's presidential elections in 2016.

The Standard report that former Barcelona president Joan Laporta refutes claims that he wants to make Jose Mourinho the club's boss if he is re-elected as Barcelona president.

Laporta, who served as Barcelona president from 2003-2010, can stand for election in 2016 but will not be using Mourinho's name to garner support.

Laporta has now distanced himself from the speculation according to Catalan newspaper L’Esportiu.

"My style of coaching is with the [Johan] Cruyff philosophy,” said Laporta.

"Mourinho is a great professional and I respect him, but I did not mention him with Jorge Mendes, a person with whom I have a good friendship for many years.

"From time to time, we talk about things."

Mourinho was on the coaching staff at Barcelona for four years from 1996 before returning to coach in Portugal.
