LVG wants to win FA Cup

Cape Town - Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal will be targeting the FA Cup this season after welcoming the additional fixtures of the historic trophy.

The Manchester Evening News report that Manchester United will be aiming to win the FA Cup this season.

Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick and Jonny Evans all have at least one thing in common. They have never lifted the FA Cup trophy but manager Louis van Gaal is aiming to rectify that problem this season.

"The league is our priority but the draw for the FA Cup will be made after this coming weekend's matches." said van Gaal.

"I know what the FA Cup means to this club, our players and our fans. Its place in the history of Manchester United is well known.

"This is a very important competition and probably the most famous domestic cup in the world."

Manchester United enter the competition in third round and will know their opponents on Monday, December 8 after the draw is concluded.

The third round of the FA Cup will be played on January 3 and 4.

Manchester United last won the FA Cup in 2004.
