LVG rues missed chances

Cape Town - Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal was left ruing his side's profligacy in front of goal after succumbing to a 1-0 loss at home against Southampton on Sunday.

The Red Devils dominated for large portions of this weekend's Old Trafford encounter but were made to pay for their wastefulness as Dusan Tadic's 69th-minute goal proved decisive to hand the Saints all three points.

According to Football411, Van Gaal was less than impressed with his side's finishing on the day, as the result saw Southampton climb above United to third in the Premier League standings, leaving

The Dutchman told Sky Sports: “We didn’t create many chances despite dominating the game. Only in the first minute we gave them a chance, but after that we dominate without creating many chances.

“They were defending well, good organisation, they came for a draw but I believe they go away with a victory.

“I think [Juan] Mata has three chances, he could make one of these, but you cannot change the result anymore.”
