Kompany out of QPR trip

London - Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany will miss his side's English Premiership trip to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday with a calf injury, manager Manuel Pellegrini revealed on Friday.

The Belgian centre-back took a blow to the leg during his side's 2-1 loss at home to CSKA Moscow in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Pellegrini said the injury was not serious, but it could jeopardise Kompany's chances of playing in Belgium's European Championship qualifying match at home to Wales on November 16.

"It is not serious, but I don't know if he will be ready for his international squad," the Chilean told a press conference.

Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is ready to return after a thigh injury, but Spanish playmaker David Silva (knee) and Serbian left-back Aleksandar Kolarov (calf) remain sidelined.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
