Cape Town - Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has ruled out selling any
of his players in January, amidst reports of imminent bids for Morgan
Schneiderlin.
The Saints sold a whole raft of players in the off-season to the tune of £93m, although they managed to retain the services of Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez.
When asked about the recent transfer rumours surrounding the future of Schneiderlin, Football411 quotes Koeman as saying: "We will sell nobody in January.
"Morgan's attitude is fantastic - everybody knows that he had a difficult time in the summer, but finally he accepted his situation and he's doing his best and looking forward to returning to playing."
Schneiderlin, who is currently nursing a groin injury, will not play any part in Saturday's clash with Burnley, but has been pencilled in for a return to action in Tuesday's Capital One clash with Sheffield United.
While he has no interest in entertaining offers for any of his players, Koeman admits he is looking to bolster his squad.
Japan international Maya Yoshida will take part in the Asia Cup in January, while Senegal midfielder Sadio Mane will be involved in the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
And Koeman feels the loss of the duo during a crucial period, plus potential future injuries to other players, could leave him with a dangerously depleted squad.
He said: "If everybody's available we don't need somebody.
"But we will lose two players in January to different tournaments: Mane will go to the African (Nations) Cup and Yoshida will go to the Asian tournament.
"That means two players less - maybe for that we need some players, but we have to talk about that inside and make decisions.
"But I think we need one or two players."
