Juve drop Mata interest

Cape Town - Serie A giants Juventus have cooled their interest in Juan Mata and will join the race to sign Spanish forward Pedro.

Sport24 reported earlier in September that Arsenal and Liverpool were both interested in Barcelona star Pedro after the player expressed doubts about his long term future at the Catalan giants.

The Express report that Juventus will now rival the English pair for the signature of Pedro.

Reports in Spain suggest Pedro will request a January move after seeing limited game time so far this season.

Juventus had strongly been linked with a move for Manchester United's Juan Mata, with the player's place in the lineup under threat following the late arrivals of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao.

Manchester United were interested in a swap deal including Mata in return for Arturo Vidal.

Juventus have rejected any chance of Vidal leaving Turin and have now moved on to make Pedro their number one target.
