MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Belgium-born winger Adnan Januzaj has signed a new five-year contract at Manchester United, tying one of the Premier League's most precocious talents to the champions until 2018.
The 18-year-old Januzaj made his breakthrough at United this season, scoring twice in a win over Sunderland before the recent international break.
United manager David Moyes says Januzaj "is an outstanding talent ... his balance, poise and ability to beat players is truly exceptional for a boy of his age."
Januzaj's emergence has sparked a debate about his future on the international stage. Because of his parents' heritage, he is eligible to represent Serbia, Albania and Turkey, as well as Kosovo, which is not yet recognized by FIFA, and Belgium.
The English Football Association is looking into whether Januzaj could play for England.
