Cape Town - Daryl Janmaat, a rising star in the Dutch national side, was on Tyneside on Tuesday morning as Newcastle looked to confirm their fifth signing of the summer.
According to ITV.com, Janmaat will join the Magpies as a replacement for the outgoing Mathieu Debuchy.
Debuchy is expected to join Arsenal, who are looking to fill the void left by Bacary Sagna's departure.
The 24-year-old right back produced a series of impressive displays in Brazil and Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is keen to get the formalities done sooner rather than later in order to avoid another club swooping in on Janmaat.
Janmaat, who will joining the English side from Feyenoord, will become the fifth signing after Remy Cabella was confirmed as a Newcastle player just yesterday.
These two high-profile signings will join Siem de Jong, Jack Colback and Ayoze Perez as new recruits for the side that finished the 2013/14 season in 10th position.
