Ibe: Liverpool can 'make a statement'

Cape Town - Liverpool youngster Jordon Ibe believes his side can 'make a statement' about their intentions for the season if they can leave the Emirates Stadium with all three points on Monday.

Brendan Rodgers' side come into the contest with maximum points but the trip to London represents the first test of their top-four credentials.

Ibe sees the fixture as an opportunity for the Reds to prove how far they can go this term.

"Playing against a top-four team is quite a test for us but hopefully we can get get ourselves in that position come the end of the season," he told Liverpoolfc.com.

"It's always a great battle between Arsenal and Liverpool so it should be a good contest and hopefully we can do well.

"For us, [a win can] make a statement to everyone that we can be a Champions League team and win medals.

"If we beat Arsenal it'll give all the new players and the players that were already here the confidence to kick on.

"They've already lost a game so it's crucial for them to get another win.

"We're on a winning streak right now, we've just won two games, so hopefully we can take that confidence to the Emirates and get the three points."

Ibe will hope to retain his place in Liverpool's starting XI against Arsenal after starting in his side's previous two leagues fixtures.

Liverpool travel to London to face Arsenal with two 1-0 wins to their name after matches against Stoke City and Bournemouth.

The match at the Emirates Stadium kicks off at 21:00.
