Cape Town - An inspired decision to bring Frank Lampard on against his former club helped Manchester City earn a point at the Etihad.
Manchester City v Chelsea
Manchester City coach Manuel Pellegrini, speaking to mcfc.com, kept an ace - in the shape of Frank Lampard - up his sleeve and used him in exactly the right manner as the former Blue earned a point for his new club.
“I was so sure that Lampard would play well against Chelsea because he is such a good professional. He wanted to be involved from the beginning - he is a great player, very professional so I am very happy for him.”
Despite Lampard being set to leave in January, the City boss is happy with the effect that Lampard is having on his teammates at training.
“It was important for him to continue working every day and but also I think it is important for our team to have a player with the experience and quality of Frank Lampard.” said Pellegrini.
The result left the English champions in sixth position and still five points behind Chelsea.
Hull City, currently in tenth position, entertain Pellegrini's Manchester City on Saturday, September 27 at the the KC Stadium. The match kicks off at 16:00.
