Hull City close in on Spurs captain

Cape Town - Hull City manager Steve Bruce admits a deal to sign Tottenham defender Michael Dawson has been confirmed "in principle".

According to Sky Sports, Bruce has been interested in the Spurs captain for a while now, and news that the London club have activated an £8m release clause for Sevilla centre-back Federico Fazio, suggests 30-year-old Dawson may be out of favour at White Hart Lane.

"Michael Dawson we hope we can get", Bruce said after Hull's 1-1 draw with Stoke City at home on Sunday.

"There's a deal in place in principle anyway. Hopefully, touch wood, we'll see what develops."

"We'll see what this week brings and hopefully bring in the two or three we need to give the squad a hand, because we've already played five competitive games (due to their Europa League involvement)."
