Howard extends Everton stay

Liverpool - United States goalkeeper Tim Howard has extended his contract at Everton, tying him to the Premier League club until 2016.

If the 33-year-old Howard stays at the northwest club until the end of his new deal, he will have spent 10 years at Goodison Park after having initially signed on loan for Everton from Manchester United in 2006.

Howard said on Thursday that "when you have a really good relationship in life and both sides are eager to continue and keep that going, it's a no-brainer ... It's a place that is home for me."

Howard, who scored his first professional goal with a length-of-the-field effort against Bolton in January, has played 256 games for Everton.
