Cape Town - England midfielder Jordan Henderson was named as Liverpool's vice captain earlier this week and has spoken of his pride at being named as Steven Gerrard's deputy.
According to Sky Sports, Henderson has been described as the "moral compass" of the group, and skipper Steven Gerrard believes he will go on to captain the Reds in the near future.
The former Sunderland player admits it is a good feeling to have the full support of Gerrard.
“He’s the perfect role model for any young player or any player in this team to look up to. I try to learn from him as best I can every single day,” said Henderson on Sky Sports News.
“It’s a great honour to be the vice captain of such a big club,” he added.
Liverpool face West Ham away at Upton Park on Saturday, and the Merseyside club are looking to get back to winning ways after stumbling against Aston Villa at Anfield last weekend.
