Henderson: Reds will be stronger

Cape Town - England midfielder Jordan Henderson says Liverpool are looking ahead to the new English Premiership season with confidence. a

Liverpool are currently in the United States undergoing their pre-season training in a warmer climate.

Brendan Rodgers' side has been active in the transfer market with the Anfield side looking to move on after losing Luis Suarez to Barcelona.

The Reds have signed Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic and are looking to complete deals for French striker Loic Remy, Southampton defender Dejan Lovren and Belgium SWC star Divock Origi.

Henderson, who was one of the few players to impress during England's time in Brazil, is confident that Liverpool will get the best out of Steven Gerrard this season.

Gerrard announced his retirement from international football on Monday.

“There’s been some great signings and there’s talk of a few more. And in the first day’s training today everyone looks sharp. Like I say – there’s some quality signings come in,” he told Sky Sports News.

“Hopefully we can keep going from last season, keep going with the confidence.

“And we (must) make sure the new lads settle in, that everyone’s getting on and that the team spirit is just as strong as last season.”

Liverpool have bumper season coming up as the Reds will be back in Europe's premier club competition, the UEFA Champions League, the competition they won in 2005 while also looking to go one better domestically and win the English Premiership crown for the first time since the 1989/90 season.
