Head slap angers Wilshere

London - Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere on Monday criticised players from Birmingham City after his team-mate Laurent Koscielny was taunted at the end of their League Cup final defeat at Wembley.

A mix-up between Koscielny and Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny in the 89th minute of Sunday's game allowed Birmingham substitute Obafemi Martins to tap home the winning goal to give Birmingham a 2-1 win.

As he knelt on the pitch contemplating his error, Koscielny had his hair ruffled by a Birmingham player - reportedly captain Barry Ferguson - as they ran past him to celebrate Martins's goal.

"Well done to the BCFC player who slapped Koscielny on the head when they scored, very big of you!" wrote 19-year-old Wilshere on his Twitter account on Monday.

Earlier in the day, Wilshere had written: "Morning everyone. Still feels like a bad dream but have to move on... This will make us more hungry to win the Prem (Premier League) and bring it to the Emirates."

Martins's goal earned Birmingham their first trophy since the 1963 League Cup, while Arsenal remain in the hunt for a first major honour since the 2005 FA Cup.

The competition is getting interesting, not so much because of the quality of the matches but more because of the teams making their moves to contest for the top spots, writes blogger Baylion.
