Johannesburg - Tottenham goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes is excited about the upcoming Vodacom Challenge tournament with Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

WIN: Carling Cup tickets

The Premier League outfit will grace pitches in Polokwane, Nelspruit and Johannesburg as the two most famous names in South African football pit their wits against Harry Redknapp's side.

It will be the third European summer in a row that the gloveman visits the country after travelling with Brazil to the 2009 Confederations Cup and being part of their 2010 World Cup squad.

Gomes has admitted his love for the passion of the game in the Rainbow Nation and believes the treble-winning Bucanneers and their esteemed Soweto rivals will provide a thorough pre-season test for Spurs.

"First of all, the people are so friendly and they love football," said Gomes.

"They love to be at the stadium and as everyone knows from the World Cup, the atmosphere is special, a lot different to other countries.

"It's a great atmosphere to play football in. The stadiums are also fantastic and South Africa did very well for the World Cup.

"The feeling for the game there is unbelievable. I think it will be ideal preparation for us and we have to be ready for the start of the season.

"We know it will be tougher than ever because everyone knows about Tottenham now and what we can do."
