Giggs eyes another season

Manchester - Manchester United icon Ryan Giggs has confirmed he plans to extend his career by another season next year.

The 37-year-old Welsh winger, who recently clocked up his 600th league match for United, has played on a season-to-season basis in recent years, usually leaving a decision about his future until the end of the season.

But with Giggs enjoying his football as much as ever, the veteran midfielder says he is keen to keep on playing until 2012.

"I am quite happy still playing at the moment," he told Manchester United's official website on Friday.

"I am really happy and enjoying my football as much as ever. I said if I was still enjoying myself and still getting picked I would carry on. We will sit down and talk but I am really looking forward to playing next year."

Giggs said he expects negotiations about a new one-year contract will be concluded swiftly.

"(The talks)] will follow the pattern of the last three or four years. The talks have been done and dusted very quickly. I don't know when it will be sorted out," he said.

Giggs was recently described as a "fantastic human being" by United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who has overseen his career since signing the youngster as a schoolboy.

Giggs revealed he still relies on Ferguson to give him honest advice about his form.

"It is good to hear praise from the manager," said Giggs. "He would be the first one to tell me if I was not playing well or my form wasn't good.

"We talk a lot more and we are a lot more honest with each other.

"He tells me when I am not going to play and gives me a little bit more notice now. It is a great relationship and one that has been a big part of why I am still playing."
