Gallas heading to Glory

Perth - Perth Glory says it has agreed to terms with former France international William Gallas on a one-year deal to be the club's marquee player in Australia's A-League.

The 36-year-old defender, who had stints with Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham in the Premier League, will undergo a medical before the deal is finalized.

On Glory's website, Gallas is quoted as saying "I hope to help deliver to the fans of Perth the championship they are looking for."

Perth Glory chief executive Jason Brewer says Gallas "has played at the highest level in some of the most intense rivalries in the world, so the leadership he can provide to our up-and-coming younger players will be invaluable."

No details of the contract were disclosed.

Perth is ninth after two rounds of the A-League.
