Gabby: I'm ready for Benteke fight

Cape Town - Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor admits it's up to his manager to decide whether to drop him when Christian Benteke returns from injury.

Agbonlahor has played a pivotal role in the club's bright start to the new Premier League campaign, bagging two goals in four appearances.

However, he could well be consigned to the bench once Benteke returns to contention at the end of the month following a lengthy lay-off with an Achilles injury.

The 27-year-old gave a diplomatic response when asked what he thought about the possibility of losing his starting berth to the Belgium international.

"You mean do I think I'm going to play?" he told the Birmingham Mail.

"It's a manager's choice. Whatever he sees as the best way forward as a team, he will decide.

"Christian is a massive player for the club. He's been out with a horrendous injury. He won't be rushing back because it's an injury you have to be careful with.

"As soon as he's ready to come back, we will be stronger, he's a great player and he adds a lot to the team."
