Cape Town - Alex Ferguson will again play a key role in finding the new Manchester United manager after David Moyes was sacked, the BBC Sport website reports.
Moyes, who was hand-picked by Ferguson as his successor last year, was shown the door on Tuesday after only 10 months in charge.
However, this time round Ferguson will be part of a selection process consisting of every Manchester United board member.
United are currently 7th on the English Premiership log and can no longer reach next year's Champions League.
Ryan Giggs will take over as caretaker manager for the remainder of the season.
