Cape Town - In the wake of Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against Benfica in the UEFA Champions League, Alex Ferguson was at it again as he snapped at Liverpool boss, Kenny Dalglish’s daughter.
Dalglish’s daughter, Kelly Cates, is a football presenter for British television company, ITV and was in Lisbon for the match.
She was on hand to conduct a post-match interview with her fellow Glaswegian and everything went according to plan until Cates questioned Ferguson about his goalkeeping selection, choosing to play reserve goalkeeper, Anders Lindegaard ahead of David de Gea, who was on United’s bench as the substitute goalkeeper.
“David de Gea will play on Sunday against Chelsea. That was the understanding we had before the game, and it doesn't change. I don't know why you ask these questions, you're just looking for stupid little things,” snapped Fergie.
“Anyway, it proves we have two terrific goalkeepers.”
De Gea was signed by United in July from Atletico Madrid for a reported fee in the region of £18 million.
Ferguson went onto confirm that Ashley Young, who did not make the trip to Lisbon, will return against Chelsea on Sunday.
“Ashley Young, we just gave him a rest tonight,” he added.
“I felt that the two games he had with England, and then Saturday’s game with Bolton I think he just needed a little break. He’s new to the club. Obviously he just needed a break. He’ll be fresh for Sunday.”
