Ferdinand won't face Liverpool

Manchester - Manchester United's injured defender Rio Ferdinand will miss the Premier League leaders' trip to face traditional rivals Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, said manager Alex Ferguson.

With Nemanja Vidic suspended after being sent off for a second yellow card in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, Wes Brown will play alongside Chris Smalling in central defence.

"(Rio) won't be fit. Wes will take over," Ferguson told the club's televsion channel MUTV. "He has great experience."

The 32-year-old Ferdinand injured his calf in the warm-up before United's 2-1 league defeat by Wovlerhampton Wanderers on Feb. 5 and the England captain has not played since.

United are four points clear of second-placed Arsenal, who have a game in hand, while sixth-placed Liverpool are a massive 21 points off the pace.

I have waited for over 25 years for this moment, and Insha'Allah (God Willing), i will be at Anfield on Sunday (THE game) & on Monday (for the Tour) I really hope we win, but if not, i'm hoping for a superb performance by my Reds at the very least More excited about the tour to be honest, as the game is twice every season ... May the better team on the day claim the bragging rights until the next time ! Y N W A !

@True Red go for it man! There is nothing better than to watch the team you support play @ home. Last December I visited the Theatre for the second time to watch the Arsenal game - just to be there - the atmosphere and emotions are overwhelming - forget the game itself. You got a fantastic fixture - 2 old rivals meet yet again - no matter what the prize is, pride is at stake so be prepared for a fantastic game.
