'Fellaini cannot play football'

Cape Town - Former Croatia international Zvonimir Boban has questioned the decision to play Marouane Fellaini ahead of Radja Nainggolan in the Belgium team.

Boban, who represented Dinamo Zagreb and Milan during his playing days, was on a the Sky Sports panel which discussed the EURO 2016 qualifier between Belgium and Wales on Sunday.

And the 46-year-old didn't spare any punches in his assessment of Fellaini, while suggesting that Roma midfielder Nainggolan would be a better option in Marc Wilmots' starting line-up.

As things stand, Nainggolan has made just eight appearances for the national team, while Fellaini has racked up 53.

"Fellaini cannot play football. He seriously cannot play football,” he is quoted as saying by Football411.

"It's unthinkable that Nainggolan doesn't play instead of him."

The criticism of Fellaini has come at a strange time, with the towering midfielder enjoying something of revival in the United team of late under the management of Louis van Gaal.

He has also made three appearances for Belgium this year, scoring two goals.
