Cape Town - Monaco striker Radamel Falcao has been linked with a move to the English Premiership all summer but it appears the Colombian hitman may indeed make a deadline day move to the England.
The Guardian report that both Manchester City and Arsenal have been offered Monaco’s Radamel Falcao for around £55 million ahead of the 23:00 transfer deadline on Monday, September 1.
Both Arsenal and Manchester City will struggle to make the deal happen with Arsenal unable to match the asking price. Manchester City are concerned with making the mega-money move for the Colombian star with the pressures of UEFA's Financial Fair Play system.
City may yet be able to raise the funds needed for the Falcao deal should they be able to offload Álvaro Negredo, Micah Richards, Matija Nastasic and Scott Sinclair. Negrado is a top target for Valencia after Real Madrid decided to loan Javier Hernandez from Manchester United.
In a somewhat surprising move, Manchester United have been tipped as favourites to land the striker after fears regarding Robin Van Persie's fitness.
Skybet now have Manchester United as 4/5 favourites ahead of City who are tipped at 11/8 to sign Falcao.
Falcao’s agent had attempted to secure a move to Real Madrid but were met with some unexpected resistance at the Bernabéu. Falcao deleted a tweet on Saturday that indicated he was moving to the club.
