Cape Town - Each round of the 2010/11 English Premiership season, a panel of Sport24 tipsters have a crack at predicting the results – do it yourself, if you like, and see how your scoreboard compares with ours in the report-back a week later.
Three precious points are given for an entirely correct score-line, and one for right result.
Compiled by Rob Houwing (the champion last season but a Newcastle supporter for his sins), the others are colleagues Garrin Lambley (very Everton-partial), David Brooke (Manchester United) and Dominic Valentine (Liverpool).
We occasionally invite guest tipsters; watch this space.
THE PRIME ATTRACTION
BLACKBURN v MANCHESTER UNITED
Saturday, 13:45
I stand alone in suggesting (and I admit I may have taken a slightly risky route) that Blackburn will be good enough on the day for a point. My rationale was that a draw suits both teams quite well, thank you: United would definitely secure the Premiership, whilst the hosts might well put themselves clear of any lingering relegation threat. So let’s just say a wee bit of a “mutual friends society” might subconsciously take root! Note that last season’s Ewood Park encounter was a stalemate, too. But the rest of the lads see the Red Devils nailing the title in style ... especially Dave with a four-zip tip.
Rob: Blackburn 1 Manchester United 1
Garrin: 0-2
David: 0-4
Dominic: 1-2
Last season: 0-0
THE GRUDGE MATCH
MANCHESTER CITY v STOKE
Tuesday, 20:45
How could I opt for any other game in this category? By a strange twist of fixture fate, the combatants in the FA Cup final on Saturday are back at each others’ throats in the league three days later! So somebody is going to be seeking revenge for losing out at Wembley, unless they are too dispirited to get up for it ... unlikely, I would think. That will especially apply if the final has been a tetchy affair. Besides, for City there is still the prospect of improving on fourth on the table and getting an easier ticket into the Champions League next season. Only Garrin has the Potters stealing something from the visit to Eastlands.
Rob: Manchester City 2 Stoke 1
Garrin: 1-1
David: 2-1
Dominic: 2-0
Last season: 2-0
THE DESPERATE DUEL
WIGAN v WEST HAM
Sunday, 17:00
Championship football, alas, seems so very close now for the once-illustrious Hammers. It’s going to take a minor miracle for them to stay up as the bottom-placed Londoners visit second-from-last Wigan (what a scenario!) in the second-last round of the season. So the stakes for this one are absolutely gigantic: a draw is probably going to do neither side any favours, so they’re going to have to go for broke. A true nail-biter is thus in prospect. Interestingly, nobody backs the home win and both Garrin and Dave fancy West Ham to somehow keep the dream alive. How Wigan, though, would love a repeat of last season’s result ...
Rob: Wigan 1 West Ham 1
Garrin: 1-2
David: 0-1
Dominic: 1-1
Last season: 1-0

LEADERBOARD
Ah, I can almost touch it ... you know, that title I am so keen to retain. Things were going just a little bumpily for me in the last round, with nearest challenger Dom having annoyingly made up a point or two, ahead of the Man City-Spurs game (1-0) to close the programme on Tuesday. Garrin found some rare form, too, to top the week’s tipping with a “tenner”. But I am indebted to Peter Crouch unusually putting the ball through his own net for a precious three-pointer both to City and yours truly that restored my good spirits. My lead is a fair old nine with two rounds to play. Now now, mustn’t be complacent ...
261 Rob (7 points in last round)
252 Dominic (6)
231 David (9)
214 Garrin (10)
