Cape Town - Each round of the 2010/11 English Premiership season, a panel of Sport24 tipsters have a crack at predicting the results – do it yourself, if you like, and see how your scoreboard compares with ours in the report-back a week later.
Three precious points are given for an entirely correct scoreline, and one for right result.
Compiled by Rob Houwing (the champion last season but a Newcastle supporter for his sins), the others are colleagues Garrin Lambley (very Everton-partial), David Brooke (Manchester United), Raymond Kilfoil (Tottenham) and a newcomer in Dominic Valentine (Liverpool).
We occasionally invite guest tipsters; watch this space.
THE PRIME ATTRACTION
LIVERPOOL v CHELSEA
Sunday, 18:00
Suddenly things look a little brighter at Anfield, with Liverpool boasting three wins on the trot – including a midweek 3-1 triumph over Napoli in the Europa League. Right, can they extend their run against the ever-consistent champions? Well, at least there’s some “form” behind their cheeky bid. But takers for even a ‘Pool point are hard to find ... only Garrin is prepared to venture a share of the spoils. The rest of us have the Blues nicking it, or perhaps even doing it in easier fashion than that. Last season was 2-0 to the Londoners in Scouseland, so they won’t harbour any special fear of the noisy Kop.
Rob: Liverpool 0 Chelsea 1
Garrin: 1-1
Raymond: 1-3
David: 0-2
Dominic: 1-2
Last season: 0-2
THE GRUDGE MATCH
ARSENAL v NEWCASTLE
Sunday, 15:30
I’ve given this game grudge billing because of the very recent meeting between the pair at St James’s Park, where Newcastle’s promising little run in the League Cup came to an abrupt end with a 0-4 hiding (although the score-line was a bit deceptive). On that occasion, mind, both teams fielded pretty much their “seconds”, so here’s the real deal on Sunday. Both the Gunners and Toon will start in strong spirits because they have won their last two league games – and Arse three on the trot. But I regrettably fancy the euphoria of the north-east derby thrashing won’t be enough for my beloved black-and-whites to notch the Emirates upset. I am not alone in that thinking, either.
Rob: Arsenal 2 Newcastle 0
Garrin: 2-1
Raymond: 2-1
David: 2-1
Dominic: 3-1

THE DESPERATE DUEL
BIRMINGHAM v WEST HAM
Saturday, 17:00
A clash of two teams in the bottom quarter, with visiting Hammers still a little adrift of the pack in bottom spot. I feel for them: they were incredibly resilient in the derby at Arsenal last Saturday before surrendering it late. If much-maligned Robert Green is in great goalkeeping nick all over again, they might just get something out of this fixture, although the entire panel insists Birmingham will do enough for all three points and climb into slightly healthier territory. I’ve gone for a repeat of last season’s 1-0.

LEADERBOARD
Quite a bit of clutter at the top now, with Ray moving into solo lead after sharing it with yours truly last week. But I have only dropped one “stroke” to stay in very close touch. Nevertheless, Dom was the big winner from the last round, getting a double-figure tally to shoot up to joint-second. Dave and Garrin can now cry on each other’s shoulders about their ropey start to the campaign. They will hope for better fortune in this potentially revealing double round ...
77 Raymond (8 points last week)
76 Dominic (11) and Rob (7)
60 David (7) and Garrin (4)
