Everton, Astona Villa draw

Liverpool - Leighton Baines struck a late penalty Saturday to salvage a 2-2 draw for injury-hit Everton and deny relegation-threatened Aston Villa a much-needed win in the Premier League.

England striker Darren Bent appeared to have put Villa and under-pressure manager Gerard Houllier on course for three vital points at Goodison Park when he responded to Leon Osman's opener with a second-half double.

But Everton won a spot kick in the 83rd when Jean Makoun tripped Phil Jagielka to earn a deserved draw after dictating the play for most of the game despite missing several big names and being relatively secure in mid-table.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
