Cape Town - Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is on the verge of completing the signing of AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli, but his striker splurge is far from over.
According to The Mirror, the Reds boss is still hoping to finalise a deal for Samuel Eto'o, who is now a free agent after leaving Chelsea.
The Reds were in talks with the Cameroon international earlier this month as Rodgers looked to sign a striker to fill the Luis Suarez void.
Reports suggest Liverpool are not the only Merseyside club with their eye on Eto'o, as rivals Everton are also in the running alongside Ajax. Rodgers is keen to lure the striker to Anfield and hopes the chance to play alongside impending signing Balotelli will be an incentive for Etoó.
According to Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzia, a move for Eto'o is close after fresh negotiations were held.
