Cape Town - Michael Essien's agent has revealed the AC Milan midfield
turned down the chance to return to the Premier League by rejecting
offers from West Brom and Queens Park Rangers, reports Football411.
Essien, who joined the Rossonerri from Chelsea last January, is out of contract at the end of the season and will likely depart the San Siro in the off-season, having already indicated that he won't sign a new deal.
The player's agent, Fabien Piveteau, says there is no chance Essien will play for anybody other than Chelsea should he return to England, admitting that a January departure looks unlikely to transpire with much of the interest in the Ghanian coming from Premier League clubs.
"What are the chances of Essien leaving in January?" Piveteau is quoted as saying by Calciomercato.
"It’s difficult, we’d prefer to respect the contract until June. Essien will not play in the Premier League for any club other than Chelsea, his former team.
"We had offers from West Bromwich Albion and Queens Park Rangers but we refused. If we were to get an appropriate offer from a club which is not in the Premier League we’d accept.
"However, it remains difficult to leave Milan in January, because our intention is to comply with the contract he has with the Rossoneri."
