Cape Town - Chased by several leading English clubs, Aymeric Laporte has played down any talks of leaving La Liga in the short term.

According to talkSPORT, Athletic Bilbao received a major boost - at the expense of Manchester United and Arsenal - as France defender Aymeric Laporte distanced himself from any move away from the club.

Despite Bilbao's struggles, the side are currently 13th in La Liga, Laporte believes he is at the right club for this stage of his career.

"Here there are many people of experience and I'm learning a lot from them." Laporte told AS.

"I have played a lot of games and I want to continue to do what I'm doing."

At 20-years-old Laporte is one of the most highly-rated defenders in Europe and the central defender has been capped at every age group level for France but has yet to earn his first senior cap.

Laporte made his senior debut for Athletic Bilbao in 2012.
