EPL Team of the Week 24

Cape Town - After the weekend's English Premiership action, Sport24 soccer journalist Wade Pretorius, chooses the EPL Team of the Week.

All the English Premiership results HERE!

English Premiership Team of the Week 24:

1. Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur) - His save from a curling Danny Welbeck effort did not go unnoticed by the selectors. Remarkably underrated as a English Premiership goalkeeper.

2. Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea) - Back in this team after some time, the Serbian's winner against Aston Villa was a thunderous effort which would've made Lionel Messi blush.

3. Maya Yoshida (Southampton) - Playing out of position in this week's side, the Saints defender was key to his side's victory on the road.

4. Cheikhou Kouyate (West Ham United) - A wonderful display by the makeshift centre back as his dealt with Manchester United's expensively-compiled attack with ease.

5. John Terry (Chelsea) - On his day, he is one of the world's best centre backs and again proved his worth, despite getting on in years, against Villa.

6. Joe Ledley (Crystal Palace) - Ledley scored a vital goal for Palace as Alan Pardew continues to get the best out of a rather limited squad.

7. Jordan Ibe (Liverpool) - The Liverpool youngster stole all the plaudits despite the Merseyside derby not providing a goal. Could another Raheem Sterling be in the making?

8. Ki Sung-yueng (Swansea City) - Swans fans will be disappointed with a draw at home against Sunderland but Ki will be pleased with a good individual performance.

9. Christian Eriksen (Tottenham Hotspur) - The Great Dane pulled all the strings as Spurs came from behind to beat their arch-rivals Arsenal.

10. Sadio Mane (Southampton) - His goal against QPR might well be season-defining for the Saints. Quality player.

11. Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur) - Quickly turning into one of the league's very best players, let alone strikers, his performance against Arsenal left most pundits speechless.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
