Cape Town - Ilkay Gundogan has reportedly informed Borussia Dortmund that he wishes to leave the Bundesliga club in the off-season.
The Germany international missed much of the first half of the 2014/15 campaign with a serious back injury, which has limited his involvement for Dortmund.
Gundogan has managed just 19 league appearances for Jurgen Klopp's side this term as they had to deal with a severe injury crisis at Signal Iduna Park.
BVB were entrenched in the relegation zone up until the mid-season break, but they have managed to turn their fortunes around somewhat and currently sit 10th in the standings.
However, their situation has led to Klopp opting to end his association with the club at the end of the season, with Thomas Tuchel confirmed as his replacement.
Now it appears Gundogan is set to follow suit as ESPN reports that the 24-year-old midfielder has told the club he wants out too.
Speculation in Germany that Manchester United are lining up a bid for the former Nurnburg man has been dismissed by Dortmund, but Bayern Munich and Juventus are believed to be vying for his signature.
