London - Manchester City centre-back Martin Demichelis has signed a one-year contract extension, the English Premier League champions announced on Thursday.

The Argentina international, 34, signed for City from Atletico Madrid in September 2013 and is now under contract until the end of the 2015-16 season.

"I want to say that I am really proud and happy to have extended my contract for another year," Demichelis told the City website.
