Dawson blow for Tottenham

London - Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson is likely to miss the rest of the season after the the club said he'd ruptured an ankle ligament during Wednesday's FA Cup win over Stevenage.

England centre-back Dawson, now also set to be ruled out of EURO 2012, fell awkwardly after jumping with Stevenage's Chris Beardsley at White Hart Lane.

Initially, the nature of his injury was unclear but Tottenham said on Thursday: "Scans taken this morning have determined that Michael Dawson is likely to be absent for a period of 10-12 weeks.

"The central defender was stretchered off in the first half of the FA Cup tie against Stevenage last (Wednesday) night, with it now confirmed that he suffered a ruptured ligament in his right ankle."
