Cape Town - Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Italian right-back Matteo Darmian from Torino.
After increased speculation that a deal for the Torino star was done, the Serie A club's manager has confirmed the transfer according to the Manchester Evening News.
Torino manager Giampiero Ventura told Sky Italia: "“It’s true, Darmian will play in the Champions League with Manchester United,”
“Matteo deserves a top team and always dreamed of playing in the Champions League, so now that dream will be realised.”
“We worked with Darmian for many years and it’s only right he should be given the chance to make his Champions League dream come true.
The 25-year-old defender is expected to fly to England on Friday to complete his medical before joining the Red Devils on their pre-season tour of the USA.
Darmian's arrival is likely to spell the end of Brazilian Rafael's career at Old Trafford.
Rafael has failed to impress manager Louis van Gaal with pacy winger Antonio Valencia converted to a make-shift right-back last season.
Darmian is expected to cost Manchester United £13 million.
