Dalglish slams Liverpool

2012-05-02 10:17

London - Liverpool, who made nine changes to the team in their last game before the FA Cup final with Chelsea at the weekend, slumped to a 1-0 home defeat by Fulham in the Premier League on Tuesday much to the annoyance of manager Kenny Dalglish.

"I don't think it can be described as a performance," Dalglish told the BBC after a fifth-minute own goal by defender Martin Skrtel handed the Londoners their first win at Anfield at the 49th attempt. "The attitude was very poor.

"I think we got what we deserved from the game and that was absolutely nothing. If you don't approach the game properly you're not going to get anything.

"I take part of the blame because I thought I was being fair to everybody by giving them the opportunity to get some minutes on the pitch," added Dalglish. "The game coming up on Saturday is important to the club."

Liverpool stayed in eighth place with two matches left this season, level on 49 points with Fulham who are ninth.

In the night's other game, seventh-placed Everton drew 1-1 at Stoke City.

Everton went in front with a Peter Crouch own goal on the stroke of halftime but Stoke, who are 13th, equalised through Cameron Jerome midway through the second half.

Chelsea warm up for Saturday's final at Wembley by hosting Newcastle United in the league on Wednesday.

Champions League finalists Chelsea are sixth, a point behind Newcastle and fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur who travel to relegation-threatened Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday.

Jason, you might have to eat your words as soon as next Saturday, how many trophies has your team, whoever they may be, won this year ?

      aadil.esack - 2012-05-02 12:48

      we already did, lol

      Jason - 2012-05-02 15:13

Oh Bob...it so funny. You actually think your mincy pool defence stand a chance against a firing Chelsea side. Liverpool supporters are so delusional its funny. The reasons you bin diggers lost are: you forgot to take off your Man City shirts and you squad is rubbish...besides Stevie G who is past his sell by date and a racist hot head upfront. Every other player is sub standard and perhaps over priced....been a man of stats and facts you are...you can't dis agree with that. And talking about no trophies...the season isn't done yet and that fat lady hasn't sung...but good luck to you on Saturday...you definitely gonna need a stack of it...

lol, did anyone actually WATCH the game, or even read the first line of this article ? NINE changes from the team that won 3-0, away, on the weekend - we basically put out a reserve team with alot of youngster's last night due to Saturday's Cup Final. It's not like we are playing for anything in the league this season, so why risk your main player's before Saturday's huge game ? Kenny got it spot on, and gave the benchwarmer's & youngster's a chance last night - what he is understandably upset at is that they didn't give the PERFORMANCE they are expected to & grab their opportunity to maybe get in the "main" team for Saturday - i wouldn't change a thing, and given his performance last night & as he has been good in the Cup's this season, hope Caroll get's to start in the Final

how much was spend and they have gone backwards... hope they spend more and continue going backwards... The Kopshyte Dustbin dippers

      aadil.esack - 2012-05-02 12:47

Our NETT spend was less than most of rival's, despite us have to completely rebuild, and they are still at the very least young - some show promise (Carroll, Henderson), some were absolute bargains (Suarez, Enrique, Bellamy), and some may not make it (Adam, Downing ?) - the fact is this is Kenny FIRST season back in charge. We already have one trophy, we are at least back in Europa, and we at least have another Final on Saturday - think back to just over a year ago, not only the horrible position we were in just before Kenny came back, but the horrible defensive football we played under Woy - trust me, those whon understand, see the progress, even if it means losing a few "small" games along the way ...

      Jason - 2012-05-02 13:07

how do u get that Carrol 35m; Suarez 23m; Henderson 20m; Adam 8m; Jose-Enrique 8m; Downing 20 m; thats over a 100m now you take into account that they almost went into administration last year then spend like this.. Well lets say they might not spending what Man City are but they spending more than most. And u mention rivals lets look above them Everton spending 3 loan deals and Jelavic 5m... Newcastle; Spurs; Arsenal even United are less than that in the last year. Chelsea and City are bigger spenders but lets face it they can no longer be considered rivals your rivals around you have all spend allot less.

      aadil.esack - 2012-05-02 13:53

We bought for 114.3m. We sold for 72m + (Can't remember what we got for all Woy's Poulsen & Konchesky rubbish type players). NETT spend = +- 42.3m, and that was for a FULL squad refurb, with a LOWER wage, and much younger age. Utd, the defending champions, meaning they only needed a nip & tuck, spent more on just THREE players ! It's obvious Kenny is planning for the future - that means that if given the time, and most of these young player's work out in 2 or 3 seasons, we won't have to spend alot at the end of every season - just 2 or 3 key signings

  • Byron - 2012-05-02 13:59

Liverpool WILL NEVER WALK ALONE, because they scared of MANCHESTER UNITED! LOL!

      Bob - 2012-05-03 09:24

Told you before Sharm, stick to the local PSL, it's more your level, you know nothing of the history of the EPL.

  • pearson.botha - 2012-05-03 09:02

Liverpool talk about "net spend" as if net spend is absolution. NUFC thought Carroll was worth £15,000,000.00 and THEY were smoking their socks Liverpool's christmas came early with the lucky Torres deal and they wasted the proceeds on four donkeys. (CHAD) When LFC Sell Carroll for £11.36 their net spend will be MINUS £34,999,988.64. Then we can talk about net spend. Until then show us some RoI (Return on Investment) . Long live King Kenny! Up The Arsenal!

  • Sharmilen - 2012-05-03 12:21

Told you before Bobby boy....nobody takes your (s)advise except your fellow Losers with their snot filled mouths.History of the EPL - of which your sad, grumpy(look at the picture above of Mr Grumpy) lot have not been a part of so you know what to to do Mr Know it all...FOBTE!!!
