London - Manchester United have overwhelmed champions Manchester City 4-2 to cement third place and effectively end their rivals hopes of defending their Premier League title.
Sergio Aguero put City in front early on at Old Trafford but goals from Ashley Young, Marouane Fellaini, Juan Mata and Chris Smalling put United out of sight before Aguero grabbed his second late on.
The result left United third, one point behind second-placed Arsenal. City stayed fourth and are now four points behind their crosstown rivals.
