Cape Town - Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes Manchester City must keep Frank Lampard beyond January.
Talking on Sky Sports, Carragher said: “City have to keep him,” before adding “I do not know what goes on with City and the link with New York, but he has to stay at the club.”
Lampard combined with Milner for the second goal in the 80th minute against Southampton on Sunday.
Milner found Lampard lurking on the edge of the box and the former Chelsea man thrashed a low shot past a motionless Forster.
“There is no one better who we have seen over the last 10-20 years in terms of that position of coming on to a ball. I think he is only one Premier League goal now behind Thierry Henry – that is an unbelievable stat for a central midfield player.” added Carragher.
