Cape Town - The uncertainty surrounding Frank Lampard’s Manchester City future would be a lot clearer after the Citizens final Champions League group stage match against AS Roma.
The Telegraph report that Manchester City coach Manuel Pellegrini will make his recommendation on Lampard's time next week.
Many pundits have warned City against letting Lampard leave the club at the end of December and Lampard's key contributions to the City cause have also impressed Manuel Pellegrini.
Lampard's current deal expires at the end of the year and the English midfielder is expected to link up with New York City FC for pre-season training.
Lampard has cored his five goals in eleven appearances for City, the latest coming in City's key victory over Southampton last Sunday.
Pellegrini will be well aware that he is losing Yaya Toure for the month of January with the strong midfielder reporting for AFCON 2015 duty.
Claudio Reyna, the director of football of MLS side New York City, wants Lampard back as scheduled. He said: "the plan is Frank will be in pre-season with New York City FC" which hints at no specific date set for the arrival of the former Chelsea talisman.
