Cisse the man for the job

Cape Town - Former Newcastle star Alan Shearer believes Papiss Cisse is the man the can ensure Newcastle United’s English Premiership survival.

Senegal striker Papiss Cisse has scored two braces in his last three games following a return from a knee injury.

The Newcastle Chronicle report that Alan Shearer believes a fit Cisse can lead Newcastle out of the relegation zone.

“It’s good to see him back amongst the goals." said Shearer.

“He had a poor season last year.

“We know he can score them.”

The former England striker suggested two things Alan Pardew's men need to do in order to avoid a late season relegation fight.

“The one thing is keeping him fit and the other is keep on giving him chances.

“They are two things we must try to do because at the minute he looks like the only one who can score us goals.”

The Magpies are without a win in their opening seven English Premiership games which has increased the speculation that one more loss will end Pardew's time at the club.

Leicester City are Newcastle's next target but with the Foxes in good form, Cisse and his Newcastle teammates will have to be on top form in order to bag their first win of the season.

Newcastle United host Leicester City at St. James' Park on Saturday at 16:00.
