Chelsea sign 14-year-old

2010-08-12 10:40

London - Chelsea have beaten off rivals Manchester United to land highly rated Burkina Faso prospect Bertrand Traore.

According to The Sun website, the midfielder, who is only 14, shone at the Under-17 World Cup last year where he became the youngest player to appear in the finals.

Burkina Faso sports minister Jean-Pierre Palm confirmed the teenager has agreed a deal to move to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea, who lost the Community Shield last weekend 3-1 to United, open their 2010/11 English Premiership campaign at home against WBA on Saturday.

Why wait until he is 25 to give him a chance, burkina fasoa with mininal resources beating the United State Of Africa (South Africa) with the exports, why because talent is not reconised when it should, thus ending with the fustrated youth turning to junkies. Yes SAFA is responsible.

  • WTF - 2010-08-12 11:01

@Talent: WTF does SAFA or South Africa have to do with this boy joining Chelsea? Please talk sense before blasting S.A and SAFA!!!

  • PITSO - 2010-08-12 11:07

Yes y not football this days is for young stars...but he still has a long way to go...this is the future World Fotballer of the Year, considering the training and guidence he will get from those top players i.e. Drogba, Essien, Ballack etc...Good Luck Bertrand...

  • byron - 2010-08-12 12:04

@Pitso-what is he going to fly to Germany to get special traing from Beyer Leverkusen player Michael Ballack?Unusal that

  • Talent - 2010-08-12 12:38

@WTF-Clearly never heard of the bigger picture ha? always looking at things as they are ha? some call-it a grey area, this is how- Grow development in this country, believe in development in this country, who is responsible for that SAFA thats the bigger picture.

  • von stout - 2010-08-12 12:38

i totaly agree, why wait if he got talent let him show it to tha world,SAFA is to blame,am from SA and in my country here are many talents but do you gys ever see that..at tha age of 14years let him show drogba how to score and maluda how to run the tha midfield

  • Edwin Twala - 2010-08-12 13:02

This is human traficking/slavery at its best the EU teams should stop buying players at this age football is a game the childs future should considered Education should come first he may have his talent thats fine so was Kunta Kinte. slavery has a new face its called Europian football

  • @EDWIN TWALA - 2010-08-12 14:50

When this boy reaches your age he will probally be a football star and a qaulified doctor or engineer or something. while you will still be siting by your keyboard a nobody writing stupid comments. Sorry you probally think Bafana Bafana will win the next world cup. you are a idiot

  • WTF - 2010-08-12 15:09

@Talent: Again MORON!!! WTF does S.A and SAFA have to do with this boy joining Chelsea?????? Comment on the article, the article does not refer to any local lads not being recognised! Just for your info, we have a number of youths that have been recognised in the past but due to success hitting their heads, they end up flopping. Example: Jabu Pule?

  • Talent - 2010-08-12 15:37

@WTF you obviously can't see beyond your nose, also Pule was recognised by who, it wasn't SAFA Sdenge, it was KC and he never saw a cap (reach in talent) in the senior team untill he was old enough to lift igudu, you clearly have limited infor. and obviously possess an IQ of feutos. make it difficult to entertain you.

  • Jimmy Jump - 2010-08-12 16:10

@ Talent u clearly never heard of subject matter, the topic is about Chelsea beating Man u on signing that girl looking boy and not about SAFA. How u manage to type all those words remain a mystery with that kind of intelligence.

  • The Doctor - 2010-08-12 19:31

Before we all get to excited.....do a "bone scan". This kid looks "slightly" older than 14. Remember how Sizwe Mutaung was 28 years old for three consecutive seasons...Hmmmm

  • RONNIE "SHIBOBO" - 2010-08-12 23:13

guys hold on what talent trying to say is that safa dont go out there in the fields and scout raw talent and i agree when last did we have a striker from rsa who scord 30goals in one season i know when fanie madida were playing so safa stop sitting on your back sides and go do your jobs

  • WTF - 2010-08-13 10:52

@Talent: Before commenting on my IQ level, which has nothing to do with the inteligence of comments by the way, i suggest you go and learn to type properly when making comments because i still don't understand half the things you type! Maybe that's why i am missing your point! Also ever heard of the kettel calling the pot black? Don't say i am stupid if you clearly are dumb! You go on about this boy as if he will be the best in the world! That's why so many "to-be proffessional" laities fall flat on their faces because they succumb to pressure from retards like you!

  • Eplfan.co.za - 2010-08-13 12:41

You are all missing a big factor. Chelsea are a club with millions of pound to invest in scouting. SAFA is basically broke in comparison. This kid isn't from here either. I had a chat to Gary Bailey and he said that it was not SAFA's fault, but rather the clubs themselves for not implementing academies that were good enough. @Talent - Keep the comments on track buddy. Purely because of your stupidity the comments have moved to a difference convesation. Just because Chelsea sign him at age 14 doesn't mean he will win World Footballer of the Year anytime soon, or even at all.

  • Popeye - 2010-08-13 13:02

Chelsea scouted the boy, not the English FA. So this has nothing to do with governing bodies, but teams doing their own scouting. What u idiots r saying is that SAFA should sign players. FYI, there is no team called SAFA. You guys (talent & Von stout) can really dish out rubbish without thinking.

  • dumkofp@ Talent and WTF - 2010-08-13 13:25

Hi, you both are fit to be part of the SAFA.

  • Gibro - 2010-08-13 13:37

@WTF - You sound like those people who thought SA would never host a successful soccer world cup. Are you South African? I wonder. Anyway let UK groom future African stars and we might stand a chance to win the world cup some time in the futureā€¦

  • WTF - 2010-08-13 14:33

@Gibro: You sound like another retard!!! I am in fact South African and proudly South African you dumb A$$!! If you read my comments you can actually see that i defend SAFA and S.A you ignorant A$$wipe! I also loved the WC and never once doubted our ability to host it! So you and Talent can go play marbels in a corner or watch paint dry which should compliment your guys IQ levels! MOFOS!!!!
