Cavani, Benteke on LVG's 'list'

Cape Town - Manchester United will look to either Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani or Liverpool target Christian Benteke to fill the void left by Robin van Persie at Manchester United.

talkSPORT report that Edinson Cavani is the 'prime target' for manager Louis van Gaal.

Van Persie's move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce is expected to be confirmed imminently, leaving Van Gaal at least one quality striker short.

The English media outlet report that while Benteke is on "LVG's list", Liverpool are still favourites to land the Belgian striker.

According to Jamie Jackson, of the Guardian, "Edinson Cavani is Manchester United’s prime target".

Any move for the 28-year-old Uruguayan will open up the possibility of Angel Di Maria moving the other way after the French side's manager and former Manchester United defender, Laurent Blanc, confirmed his interest in United's record signing.

Manchester United have completed a flurry of activity in the transfer market recently adding Matteo Darmian (Torino), Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton) and Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich) to their squad along with Memphis Depay (PSV).

The Red Devils are currently in America for their four match pre-season tour.
