Carrick seals win for United

Wigan - Manchester United moved to within one point of retaining the English Premier League title after coming from behind to beat Wigan 2-1 on Wednesday.

Hugo Rodallega's first-half strike had given Wigan hope of a major upset that would have thrown the title battle wide open.

But the introduction of Carlos Tevez early in the second-half proved the catalyst for a United fightback.

The Argentinian striker flicked in a mishit Michael Carrick shot for the equaliser just after the hour mark and Carrick sealed the victory with an 18-yard drive four minutes from time.

The victory leaves United needing a draw from either of their remaining two matches - against Arsenal at Old Trafford on Saturday and away to Hull on May 24 - to be certain of what will be a record-equalling 18th English league title.
