Carrick pens new United deal

Manchester - England midfielder Michael Carrick has extended his contract with Manchester United, keeping him at the club until June 2015 with an option of a further year.

Carrick has established himself as an integral part of the United team since joining from Tottenham in 2006.

"Michael is a great reader of the game and has excellent passing ability. He is an exceptional man and a true professional," manager David Moyes said.

In his seven years at United, the 32-year-old Carrick has won five Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2008.

"I have won many trophies in my years playing here and I am looking forward to achieving more in the future," said Carrick in a statement on the club's official website.
